5-month old Gleanntan Grace Filled Journey - “Angel”
We had 5-month old Gleanntan Grace Filled Journey - "Angel" (CH. Gleanntan Prince Albert x CH. Gleanntan Across the Sea) entered in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy competition on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11. I am thrilled to report that on Sunday, Angel won the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy terrier group under judge D. Scott Pfeil. She then went onto to earn a Best in Show (4-6 Month Beginner Puppy) in an entry of 32 puppies under judge Ed Dzuik!! July 30 - A Summer of Building for the Future at Gleanntan
While Maida and I have entered a few shows this summer, a heavy focus has been laying the groundwork for Gleanntan's future. The summer of 2024 is reminiscent of the summer of 1997, another particularly active time for Gleanntan, 27 years ago.
During the summer of 1997, Gleanntan co-founders Donna and Ben Dale, imported two Skyes from Finland and frozen semen from the UK. The offspring from the breeding "Edi" - Int. Ch. Mariquita Flashxclusive, born in the UK and imported from Finland and "Rachel" - CH. Gleanntan Great Day O'Pataway are behind nearly all of the Gleanntan Skyes today.
Next year, Gleanntan will mark its 55th year of uninterrupted dedication to the Skye Terrier. Here are three key highlights of our "summer of building for the future":
From our March 2024 litter of 5, we have been working with two lovely females, Gleanntan Grace Filled Journey - "Angel" and Gleanntan Gift From The Sea - "Paisley" (CH. Gleanntan Prince Albert x CH. Gleanntan Across the Sea). The first out of the gate was Angel. In her first outing at the July 20 Nita-Nee KC show, Angel earned Terrier Puppy Group First in the 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy competition with wonderful colleague compliments. Angel and Paisley will make their official ring debut in the Bred By Exhibitor class in September.
On July 29, we welcomed a new import from the UK - 12-week-old Partisky Enigma - "Kenzie" bred by Simon Whincup, Worcestershire, UK. Simon bred his Gleanntan Look At Me at Partisky - "Ada" to his homebred Eng. CH. Partisky Precious Moment - "Solo." Two years ago while we were visiting Simon in the UK, we met Solo. We loved his overall breed type, temperament, strength of bone/headpiece and pedigree. The fact that he goes back to "Emily" - CH. Gleanntan Grandxpose (Int. CH. Mariquita Flashxclusive x CH. Gleanntan Great Day O'Pataway - b. 1997) on the dam's side is particularly appealing to us. Kenzie will be co-owned with Judy Fatzinger. He will be starting in the ring in November.
In early August, we expect puppies out of CH. Gleanntan I Vant To Be Alone - "Greta" (Multi BIS, BISS GCHS. Gleanntan's Sure Shot Greyjoy x CH. Finnsky Wildrose) owned by Gary Vlachos & Gleanntan. The stud dog is CH. Gleanntan Prince Albert (MBISS GCHS. Linum the Juggler x CH. Gleanntan IHopeUDance).
July 30
Yesterday (July 29) Maida, Judy Fatzinger and I had a 12+ hour round trip adventure to JFK International Airport to welcome a new addition arriving from the UK. This afternoon, we welcomed 12-week old Partisky Enigma - "Kenzie" (in Scotland, meaning "son of Keith") bred by Simon Whincup, Partisky Show Dogs, Worcestershire, UK. Simon bred his Gleanntan Look At Me at Partisky - "Ada" to his homebred Eng. CH. Partisky Precious Moment - "Solo." Two years ago while we were visiting Simon in the UK, we met Solo and we loved everything about this dog - his breed type and his pedigree. Thank you, Simon, for sending this sweet, confident puppy to Gleanntan. Kenzie will be co-owned with Judy Fatzinger, owner of Kenzie’s maternal grandfather, Dewey. Now time to get some sleep!
A huge thank you to the good people at Ryslip Kennels & Pet Travel Services. Kenzie arrived in a beautifully constructed wooden crate designed and assembled by Ryslip. This is extraordinary in today's world of mass-produced junk.
Additional note: He came over just 2 days before the dreadful August 1 deadline when CDC regulations change to prohibit dogs under 6 months old from entering the U.S. This new rule is going to hurt our already fragile worldwide Skye Terrier gene pool.

GCH. Finnsky Cooper - "Cooper" - Terrier Group First - Nita Nee KC - July 20, 2024 under judge Mrs. Cindy Meyer. The following day, Cooper earned a Terrier Group 2 under judge Mrs. Mareth K. Kipp. Cooper was bred by Thea Dahlbom & Carina Kitti, Kennel Finnsky, Finland and he is owner/handled by Michael Pesare, Gleanntan Knl. Cooper was the #1 Skye Terrier in the U.S. in 2023 (breed points - Skyes defeated) and he is currently the #1 Skye through June, 2024.

She will be making her official ring debut in September and she will be shown in the Bred by Exhibitor class. ❤️
